How to Crochet: Star Stitch - Easy Tutorial

Is always fun to learn a new crochet stitch or technique and Star crochet Stitch is one of my favorites, it creates a great optical sensation and you can use infinity colors combination, this stitch is great to use on items such bags, pillows, blankets, pot holders, you can appreciate how it looks exactly on my Fiona Purse crochet pattern, you will love it!


Abbreviations:
st(st) = stitch(es)
ch = chain
dc = double crochet

Notes:
You need two colors yarn, in this case we use green and fuchsia color.
Make sure to always have your 40 chains.

Instructions:
Ch40
Row 1: with green color yarn, ch2 (count as first dc), 1dc on 4th ch from hook, 1dc in next 38 sts.
Row 2: ch2 (count as first dc), 1dc in next 3dc, *ch10, 4dc, repeat from* finish with 4dc
Row 3: change to fuchsia color yarn and work: ch2 (count as first dc), 1dc in next 2sts, ch10, *skip one dc, 2dc in next st, 1dc in next 2 st, 2dc in next st, ch10, skip one dc, 1dc in next 2 st, ch10, repeat fom* three times more, skip one dc, 1dc in next 3 sts.
Row 4: change to green color yarn and work: ch2 (count as first dc), 1dc in next st, 2dc in next st, ch10, *2dc in next 2 st, ch10, skip one dc, 1dc in next 4 sts, ch10, repeat from* three times more, 2dc in next st, 1dc in next 2 sts.
Row 5: change to fuchsia color yarn and work: ch2 (count as first dc), 1dc in next 2 sts, ch10, skip one dc, *skip one dc, 1dc in next 2 st, ch10, skip one dc, 2dc in next st, 1dc in next 2 st, 2dc in next st, ch10, repeat from* three times more, skip one dc, 1dc in next 3 sts.
Row 6: change to green color yarn and work: ch2 (count as first dc), 1dc in next 3 sts, ch10, *skip one dc, 1dc in next 4 sts, ch10, skip one dc, 2dc in next 2 st, repeat from* three times more, 1dc in next 4 sts.
Row 7: change to fuchsia color yarn and work: ch2 (count as first dc), 1dc in next 2 sts, ch10, *skip one dc, 2dc in next st, 1dc in next 2 st, 2dc in next st, ch10, skip one dc, 1dc in next st, 1dc in next st, repeat from* three times more, skip one dc, 1dc in next 3 sts.

Repeat from row 4 to 7.
Stars Assembly
1 – Final form of the crocheting piece with loops ready to assembly (picture 1)
2 – Cross loops on row 1 as you see on (picture 2). This is just a sample of a small part, if your piece is bigger, cross all loops across your piece.
3 – Introduce loops from row 2 and 3, one inside another, on both sides (picture 3 and 4)

 4 – Loops that are on the sides, initially works along, introduce one inside another from row 1, 2 and 3 (picture 5)
5 - Start crossing loops on row 3 as you see on (picture 6)
6 – Repeat step 3 and 4 (picture 7)

  5. I just did my first C2C project: a blue baby blanket with a huge yellow star in the middle. It took me 3 days to add this as a border, but it looks AMAZING. I haven't seen this stitch elsewhere-thank you so much!
